If I work for MSN, where will I be working?
With MSN, you have the option of working at all types of facilities. Whether you feel most comfortable at a large community hospital, a teaching facility, a corner pharmacy or a doctor's office, we've got a place for you.


Why should I work with Medical Staffing Network rather than directly for a hospital or other medical facility?

Absolutely! We are here to accommodate your schedule and availability.


How long do your assignments typically last?
Our Per Diem and Contract assignments can last anywhere from one day to 13 weeks, depending on the position and facility, as well as your schedule. Our travel assignments typically last at least 13 weeks, although this can also vary depending on the facility and position available.


Will someone from MSN be available around the clock?
Always. Every hour of every day, we are here for you. Even holidays! No exceptions.

What are the minimum requirements to work for Medical Staffing Network?
To become an MSN Allied Healthcare professional, you need to provide a valid professional practice license or certification (if applicable) and proof of the right to work in the United States. We require at least one year of professional healthcare experience in your chosen field before we can hire you, and will perform a background check, reference checks, and drug screen.

Is there a fee for me to work with MSN?
Never! Medical Staffing Network is paid only by the facilities at which you are staffed. It is our pleasure to find you numerous job opportunities to choose from - at no cost to you.


How long will it take to approve my application and find an assignment?
Not long at all! The placement process goes quickly once you provide us with your application and credentials. Your assistance with requested information and flexibility with assignment choices will make a big difference in this area. So, as long as you work with us to get you working, you'll be joining the MSN family soon!


How do I find an MSN branch near me?
We have many offices across the country. Just use our Location Finder to find the MSN branch that is right around the corner from you! Or you can call 800.MSN.TEAM (800.676.8326), which will automatically route you to the appropriate branch.


What shifts are available?
Our shifts vary depending on what facility you choose to work with. We work with our facilities to ensure that you are not floating needlessly. The majority of our shifts are usually 8, 10, or 12 hours.


How will Medical Staffing Network prepare me for my assignment?
Once you have found a shift or contract that appeals to you, your MSN coordinator will confirm your start date, shift, department and salary. We will then give you all the information we have describing the equipment, procedures, policies and personality of your chosen facility.


What will my salary be?
At MSN, we make sure that you earn what you're worth! We have some of the most competitive pay rates in the industry. Your staffing coordinator will inform you of an assignment's pay rate at the time the assignment is offered to you, and it will depend on the facility and location as well as your specialty, skill and experience.


When and how will I get paid?
Pay days are every Friday. Your staffing coordinator will have your paycheck sent to whatever address you specify via U.S. Mail. If available in your area, you can have your payroll and expense checks overnighted for a small fee. Direct deposit is highly recommended, if you want to avoid long lines at the bank and waiting for checks to clear. Per Diem/Contract employees in certain locations can also take advantage of our MSN DirectPay card, which allows you to make purchases anywhere Visa® is accepted using your MSN earnings - and features Daily Pay. Please ask your Staffing Coordinator if this is an option for you!


Do you withhold taxes?
Yes, we do! You are one of our valuable employees, and we take care of your taxes for you. In addition to Federal and Social Security withholdings, we also withhold the appropriate taxes for your state of residence. Your withholdings will be based on your W-4 Form (included in your Welcome Packet), and we'll mail you a W-2 by January 31st.


How does overtime work?
Overtime is considered any hours worked over 40 in a one-week pay period, with the exception of facilities which are on an 80 hour per two-week pay period, in which case overtime is considered any hours worked over 80 hours in a two-week pay period. If you're unsure of when you qualify for overtime, please contact your Staffing Coordinator.


Am I paid for holidays?
If you're working a holiday you'll be paid at time and a half for all hours worked on that particular holiday. If you do not work on the holiday, then you will not be paid for that day. As with everything, there may be exceptions to this rule, so contact your staffing coordinator to discuss holiday weeks. Holiday work hours are recognized as 3rd shift the day before the holiday and 1st and 2nd shift the day of the holiday. MSN-recognized holidays are: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. You're not eligible for holiday pay for any additional holiday that may be observed by the facility. On call and call back is paid at regular rate for holidays.


What kinds of bonuses or rewards am I eligible for?
As our way of thanking our dedicated employees, we offer a variety of bonuses and reward programs. Please ask your Staffing Coordinator which bonuses and programs you're eligible for!


What benefits does Medical Staffing Network provide?

When am I eligible to receive my benefits?
If you're a Per diem or Contract employee, you are eligible for such benefits as 401(k), Health, Dental, and Life Insurance as soon as you complete just one month of continuous employment and maintain 120 hours per month. If you're a travel employee, you're eligible for the same benefits after 30 days as long as you maintain at least 140 hours per month.


Can I add my spouse and/or children to my insurance?
Sure! You can add your spouse or domestic partner (based on state requirements), your children, or dependents to your insurance for an additional monthly premium. All you need to do in order to add your family to your insurance is complete the enrollment paperwork and pay the monthly premium.


Do you have a retirement plan?
Absolutely! You are eligible for our 401(k) program after just one month of working with us!


If I decide to travel with MSN, how do I get to my assignment?
Driving to an assignment is most advantageous to both you and our client facilities. It's best for you because you're then eligible for mileage reimbursements and in some instances, weekly car subsidies. If you're unable to drive to an assignment, we may be able to make air travel and rental car arrangements for you. In that case, our full-time travel coordinator will assist you in making your travel arrangements.


As a traveling MSN Allied healthcare employee, what kind of lodging can I expect?
If you're going on a long-term assignment (8 weeks or longer), your first two weeks on assignment will require you to stay at a hotel or other daily rental property. We'll make every effort possible to provide you with housing that has cooking facilities. During those first two weeks, we'll be working with you to secure longer term housing in a suitable area. We will ensure that you are set up in the safest, most comfortable housing possible.


How and when am I reimbursed for my travel expenses?
Your expenses will be paid out weekly on a separate expense check and mailed on Fridays. If you're receiving mileage reimbursement, you'll receive compensation for the one-way trip to your assignment with your first expense check.


Am I obligated to work for you once I register with your agency?
Not at all! Registering with MSN does not obligate you to accept any of our assignments offered. We like to talk about the assignment up front so that you can make an informed decision on whether or not the assignment is a good match for your skill set and availability.


Can you keep me busy?
MSN cannot guarantee that we will always be able to offer the exact assignment you request every time you call. However, your degree of flexibility, experience and skill will certainly increase the likelihood that you'll be placed in your ideal assignments. Another way to ensure we'll keep you busy is to be flexible with assignments that are offered to you and to do an outstanding job on the assignments you do accept. We have hundreds of clients who will specifically ask for someone who has worked well at their facility before.


Am I allowed to get a permanent job with one of your clients after I work for them through MSN?
If you are offered a permanent job at one of the facilities in which we have staffed you, congratulations! This is the highest compliment to both you and MSN. Contact your staffing coordinator to discuss your options. MSN has agreements in place with our clients, and one of the perks of working through us is that we can help you during the negotiation process to secure permanent employment.
